Are you struggling to find the perfect summer camp for your son or daughter? Meet Camp Blue Ridge, we are an overnight summer camp near North Carolina for boys and girls ages 6-16. We understand how stressful and hard the hunt for a summer camp can be and have a few tips! Keep on reading for a few things you should look at when choosing a summer camp for your children this summer!
  1. What is the summer camp’s philosophy? A camp should focus on educational and social development while still giving children a fun and exciting summer. The philosophy is what the camp wants your son or daughter to achieve while they are there for the summer. If you don’t agree with the philosophy or mission, cross out that camp.
  2. Who is the staff? The summer camp staff are the people who will be taking care of your children this summer. Find out about the hiring process. See if background checks are performed, if they have any experience, what kind of training they have gone through, and what the staff to camper ratio is. The lower the ratio, the more attention and supervision your child will have. If possible, meet or speak with a member of the staff so they can answer any questions or concerns you may have.
  3. Is there a specific activity or program your son or daughter would like to learn about or practice this summer? A typical day at summer camp should allow your son or daughter to pick parts of their schedule. Check the list of summer camp activities and make sure they have programs that your child is interested in. If they don’t seem excited about any of them, move on to the next camp.
